Parade Float Contest Sign-Up
This year's Indian Month Kick-off theme is "Strong Like Our Ancestors" created by the
Minneapolis Public Schools American Indian Youth Council ~ Ogichida Oyate. This year's parade will be on Thursday, May 1.
The community will gather at 9 am at Cedar Field Park at Little Earth (2500 Cedar Ave., Minneapolis).
The parade will begin at 10:30 am and will end at the Minneapolis American Indian Center (1530 E. Franklin Ave) at 11: 30 am.The community is invited to the Indian Health Board at (2020 Minnehaha Ave., Minneapolis) a few blocks from MAIC for a ceremonial groundbreaking of their newest clinic on the Menaandawiwe Wellness campus for a celebration, round dance, lunch, and performances from noon - 2:30 pm.
A traveling trophy will be awarded to the winner, and other prizes will be awarded. A few elders will be making a decision about the winners based on how well the float fits the theme and originality.
* Participants can hand out candy to spectators, please don't throw candy to help keep our neighborhood clean. Floats are limited to one vehicle and/ or one vehicle and one trailer per organization.
